Hayyan by PhantomSeptember Hayyan by PhantomSeptember
The composition isn't all that great (in fact it's really bad) on this one, plus the face is lopsided. I wanted to draw a little something of the shapeshifter character I'm entering in :iconpersnicketese: 's writing tournament, but I'm not really sure this is up to par.

Hopefully I can draw something better soon/after finals are over.

I like the eyes, and the attention to detail in the flowers. I also like that you didn't feel compelled to fill the entire page and left some of it blank. I could see it on papyrus paper, but white is good too.

I don't feel like it's a favourite, but I feel like it's very crisp and clean and I appreciate that.

Shapeshifter?! And he looks so cool! His eyes are intense, I love it!

I wish they were better. I guess they will be eventually, if I keep practicing.

It helps a lot, I need to write more often myself.

Most certainly interesting. I've just read your audition for HfD, and I must say I am rather intrigued.

Once again, I admire the skill and stylistic choices you have made in drawing your character. But, as I would like this to be a helpful comment, I have something I'd like to say. Your other comments seemed as though you were wondering what felt "off" about the face, I think it's the fact that we see Hayyyan's face as well as just a little bit of the side of the head at the same time, making it both a sort of strange hybrid between a 3/4 facial view and a head on facial view, meaning we see too much of the head at the angle we are seeing your character. I think this might be tweaked if you had moved the nose and his right eye (the one on the left of the picture) more to the right and altered the visual angle on those. That way, it'd look more like a 3/4 view.

Once again, I always posit that my attempts at critique could be complete bull, and despite my comments and suggestions, I think this is a fine piece.
