What is my favourite Pokemon of all time? Ninetails. Not only can this Pokemon curse people, it can burn them to a crisp as well. They live for a long time too, and I have a thing for long-lived creatures.
I like most Pokemon, but Ninetails possesses the aspects about Pokemon that I love the most. I wasn't able to get Ninetails to look as good as I wanted, though. Ah well.

This is acrylic, by the way. I'm still trying to figure out how to paint and this was a good exercise.

Komeasti oot vastavärisävyjä käyttäny ja hyvin toimii yhteen. Otus antaa kuvall myös miellyttävän pehmeän olemuksen.

Ooohh, goodness! I've never really liked Ninetales that much for whatever reason (it's probably just too feminine-looking for my tastes), but I quite like this version! I've never noticed the reddish tips on its tail or its red eyes. Also, your Ninetails looks like a wolf. That is cool.

Lots of people seem to think the usual Ninetails design looks feminine. I think the usual design looks pretty masculine myself, but hey. Each to their own. XD With Pokemon like Jynx, Clefairy and Snubbull around, just about anything would look more masculine.

*tried hard to make it look like a fox* Gotta keep practising my animals I see. :D

Thanks for the feedback! I wanted to make the red tail-tips more pronounced, so I'm glad that worked out. In the anime, Ninetails' red eyes glow when they perform psychic attacks. I'm a sucker for red-eyed things.

Snubbull actually doesn't look feminine to me. X'D And Clefairy is pretty much just Jigglypuff's outgoing cousin. I don't mind Clefairy. Jynx, though... Somebody was on something when they came up with her. She and Mr. Mime. Ew.

Some of my mild dislike for Ninetails might stem from my moderate dislike for Vulpix. The difference between them just feels way too stark for me. Vulpix is like "meep I'm a cutesy wittle fox hear me whine" and Ninetails is like "SUDDENLY I AM TOO GOOD FOR EVERYTHING"

You do have the foxy thinness down to a science, though, especially in the legs. It might just be the fluffiness around the neck that looks wolfish, but that's just you staying true to the original design.

I have this strange dislike of Clefairy because it's design only has one canine tooth. WTH, WHERE IS THE OTHER ONE. It bothers me a lot. Ah Jynx... a case in point that generation one wasn't some pristine thing that could do no wrong.

I like Vulpix too. People are all, "Oh you're just some cute lookin--" and then it burns them to a cinder. Vulpix is pretty dang cool. I don't mind the stark difference, but I can see how it could bug other people. I'm not especially fond of Ninetails' pale coat myself, but since it's described as "gold" I imagine it would turn red in battle, its fur capturing and reflecting the red colour of its flames. A blazing red battle demon. Yiiis. I think the gold/white colour is because of the Japanese yokai it's based on, now that I think about it.

I learned from that "draw 100 foxes" exercise that American red fox get extremely fluffy in the winter. Other red foxes from other parts of the world, and grey fox are typically more slim. It was interesting to see that foxes had so many body-types from that exercise. I certainly wouldn't have been able to pull off anything resembling proper anatomy with Ninetails if it hadn't been for that exercise.

THE OTHER TOOTH GOT PUNCHED OUT BY A PRIMEAPE

AND THE PRIMEAPE LOST

Vulpix should have a second evolution to... show the maturation into Ninetales. XD It makes a little bit more sense than Magikarp turning into Gyrados, however.

I know so little about foxes... Everybody just seems to adore foxes for some reason. I guess I'm just not a canine person. I feel similarly about lions what people feel about foxes.

XD Ok, that make me feel a little bit better about the design.

Yeah, that might've helped. I wonder what the evolutions for Fennekin will be. It's cool to have another fox pokemon coming out, even though I don't particularly like its first form.

But I LOVE how Magikarp goes from being completely useless to being amazing. Maybe one day my art and I will transform from being floppy little Magicarp to stunning Gyarados.

I like that foxes essentially have snake eyes. Vertical pupil-ed yellow eyes. They're actually quite creepy and majestic all at once. I don't think I could choose between felines and canines they're both awesome.

Starter pokemon usually have really lousy first forms. Except the first generation. And Totodile. Can't forget Totodile. Or Mudkip.

I'll bet your so-called Magikarp art will evolve into a SHINY GYRADOS :iconsparklesplz::icongyradosplz::iconsparklesplz: BECAUSE IT'S JUST THAT AMAZING

Ooohhh, wow! I've never noticed fox eyes! They are snakelike... Oohhuhuhuu... My appreciation for foxes just jumped, right there.

I... don't like Totodile. I like Cyndaquil and Chikorita, but... not the blue magenta crocodile thing. XD

I hope my art will. That would be satisfying. :D

Yep. They have these creepy reptilian death stares.
