*tried hard to make it look like a fox* Gotta keep practising my animals I see.
Thanks for the feedback! I wanted to make the red tail-tips more pronounced, so I'm glad that worked out. In the anime, Ninetails' red eyes glow when they perform psychic attacks. I'm a sucker for red-eyed things.
Some of my mild dislike for Ninetails might stem from my moderate dislike for Vulpix. The difference between them just feels way too stark for me. Vulpix is like "meep I'm a cutesy wittle fox hear me whine" and Ninetails is like "SUDDENLY I AM TOO GOOD FOR EVERYTHING"
You do have the foxy thinness down to a science, though, especially in the legs. It might just be the fluffiness around the neck that looks wolfish, but that's just you staying true to the original design.
I like Vulpix too. People are all, "Oh you're just some cute lookin--" and then it burns them to a cinder. Vulpix is pretty dang cool. I don't mind the stark difference, but I can see how it could bug other people. I'm not especially fond of Ninetails' pale coat myself, but since it's described as "gold" I imagine it would turn red in battle, its fur capturing and reflecting the red colour of its flames. A blazing red battle demon. Yiiis. I think the gold/white colour is because of the Japanese yokai it's based on, now that I think about it.
I learned from that "draw 100 foxes" exercise that American red fox get extremely fluffy in the winter. Other red foxes from other parts of the world, and grey fox are typically more slim. It was interesting to see that foxes had so many body-types from that exercise. I certainly wouldn't have been able to pull off anything resembling proper anatomy with Ninetails if it hadn't been for that exercise.
AND THE PRIMEAPE LOST
Vulpix should have a second evolution to... show the maturation into Ninetales. XD It makes a little bit more sense than Magikarp turning into Gyrados, however.
I know so little about foxes... Everybody just seems to adore foxes for some reason. I guess I'm just not a canine person. I feel similarly about lions what people feel about foxes.
Yeah, that might've helped. I wonder what the evolutions for Fennekin will be. It's cool to have another fox pokemon coming out, even though I don't particularly like its first form.
But I LOVE how Magikarp goes from being completely useless to being amazing. Maybe one day my art and I will transform from being floppy little Magicarp to stunning Gyarados.
I like that foxes essentially have snake eyes. Vertical pupil-ed yellow eyes. They're actually quite creepy and majestic all at once. I don't think I could choose between felines and canines they're both awesome.
I'll bet your so-called Magikarp art will evolve into a SHINY GYRADOS
Ooohhh, wow! I've never noticed fox eyes! They are snakelike... Oohhuhuhuu... My appreciation for foxes just jumped, right there.
I hope my art will. That would be satisfying.
Yep. They have these creepy reptilian death stares.
You're so amazing man, srsly.
